Even though the plots in Disney cartoons are the creator's imaginations, it cannot be denied that many scenes within the stories are inspired by real places and are even more gorgeous than in the cartoons.
Today, I have 6 Disney-inspired places for Disney lovers to follow in the footsteps of places from their favorite cartoons!
1. Beauty and the Beast - Riquewihr and Ribeauvillé
Starting with the most impressive first scene of Belle in the country village in Beauty and the Beast . Both in style and architecture were inspired by Riquewihr and Ribeauvillé. Two cute villages in the Alsace, France that are next to the German border, so their architecture and the roots of their town names come from Germany.
Riquewihr
Riquewihr is a village known for its vineyard scenery as far as the eye can see and the colorful town that looks like a fairytale town. The surrounding area is full of shops, restaurants, famous wine shops and cute bakeries, just like in cartoons.
Ribeauvillé
If you drive just ten minutes from Riquewihr, you'll find Ribeauvillé, a slightly larger village that still has the charm of a fairytale village, especially Château Saint Ulrich, Château Girsberg and Château du Haut-. Ribeaupierre is an ancient castle on a hill that offers a beautiful view of the village and vineyards.
I like both of these places because it was like a fairy tale village in real life. Whether the pastel-colored houses lined up next to each other or the cozy mood. It reminds me of the scene in Beauty and the Beast where Belle comes to read a book in the village. So, if I ever get the chance to visit, I'll have to read a book at a cafe in this city at least once!
2. Sleeping Beauty - Neuschwanstein Castle
Many Disney Princess movie fans will be familiar with the Walt Disney Pictures logo, which has the words Walt Disney Pictures and a beautiful castle paired together.
Disneyland in United State
Tokyo Disneyland
Walt Disney, the founder of Disney, was inspired by Neuschwanstein Castle to design the logo for his cartoon company. It is also the prototype for the Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland in the United State and Tokyo Disneyland in Japan.
Neuschwanstein Castle is located in the Alps in Bavaria, Germany. It was created at the behest of King Ludwig II of Bavaria and is also known as the "Fairy Tail King".
In the 19th century, he wanted to build a beautiful castle, as Richard Wagner, the famous author of the era and a favorite of King Ludwig, described in his novel "The Swan Knight", which became It is the origin of calling this castle also known as "Swan Castle".
I'd like to go to Neuschwanstein Castle at least once in my life. Because this castle is incredibly old, gorgeous, and romantic and I want to see this castle to see for myself how stunning the castle that Walt Disney used as a model for constructing princess castles would be!
3. Rapunzel - Mont Saint-Michel
If you ever seen Tangled, you will remember the highlight of Rapunzel's home kingdom is the castle on the top of the island in the middle of the water, along with the buildings that line the hills.
A beautiful scene like a fairy tale world, who would have thought it was inspired by Mont-Saint-Michel Cathedral, or cathedral on the water, is a real place in Normandy, France.
Mont-Saint-Michel Cathedral has been a center of the Christian faith since the 8th century. Its beauty combined with thousands of years of mystique earned it a UNESCO World Heritage status in 1979 and is a popular landmark with an average of 2.5 million tourists per year!
I guarantee that if you go to this place you will be fascinated by the beauty of the charming scenery at every moment, whether during the day or at dusk!!
4. Snowwhite - Segovia Castle
The first princess to make Disney famous and well known is probably Snow White from Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs, a classic cartoon that is engraved in the hearts of many people.
If we talk about the most memorable place in the story, it would probably be the Evil Queen's Castle that appears at the beginning of the story. which this castle was inspired from Segovia Castle or Alcazar Castle was built in the 12th century in Spain.
In addition to the beauty of the architecture and the surrounding atmosphere, The castle was also a residence for nobles and royalty, a fortress to protect against enemies, and a dungeon to hold prisoners.
Nowadays, it has become a museum for tourists to view the various antiques and weapons displayed inside the castle. If you come to Spain, don't forget to come see the beauty of Segovia Castle~
5. The Lion King - Serengeti National Park and Amboseli National Park
Ah Zabenya ~ Welcome everyone to the Pride Lands, the home land of Simba in The Lion King , a cartoon that is beloved by many people.
The inspiration for the wide-open plains scene in the cartoon came from Serengeti National Park, Tanzania, which has a vast plain of 30,000 square kilometers that is home to kings of the jungle such as lions and other wild animals such as buffalo, rhinos, leopards, wild elephants, zebras and others.
Amboseli National Park, Kenya, which was inspired by the scene of a herd of African elephants walking across a wide field with a backdrop of high mountains.
The mountain in the scene was inspired by Mount Kilimanjaro, which is the highest mountain in Africa . When there are wild animals running past and the mist and clouds floating in contrast with the mountains, it is an indescribably beautiful scenery.
If you are an explorer who enjoys spending time in nature with wild animals, I believe Serengeti National Park and Amboseli National Park are also worthwhile destinations to visit.
6. Brave - Eilean Donan Castle and Calanais Stones
Brave is one of the modern Disney cartoons with very beautiful and detailed lines and graphics. It can be said that the various scenery scenes look realistic as if they were filmed in real locations, especially The Royal Castle Dunbroch that Inspired by Eilean Donan Castle, built in the 13th century in the western Highlands of Scotland.
Although it is a small castle, its special location is on an island where three lakes meet together well and have a stone bridge connecting the castle to the riverbank that gives this castle its uniqueness.
Another scene that can't be missed is the Ring of Stones, an important location in Brave, which was inspired by the Callanish Stones on the Isle of Lewis, England.
A field of stones arranged in a circle that is a stargazing place for people in the Neolithic era, creates an air of mystery and suspense similar to a cartoon.
If you are a historical visitor who enjoys visiting ancient sites, I believe Eilean Donan Castle and Calanais Stones are ideal places to explore and appreciate the magnificence of past human works~
