Top 4 Disney Classic Villains you simply cannot hate

Who is your favorite character from Disney animation?

Of course, a lot of people would pick a princess, prince, or good character as their favorite. While villains are characters that everyone hates due to their cruelty and heartlessness. But because the world isn't just black and white, many times we get to know that villains have had miserable lives or have been bullied in the past. If you're ready let's get to know them more!

Maleficent : Sleeping Beauty

The first villain is Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty, who cursed Princess Aurora to have a needle prick her finger and turn her into Sleeping Beauty, and only true love's kiss can wake her up.

When I watched this animation , I felt that Maleficent was a cruel person that was able harm even a newborn who had no fault , just because King Stefan (Aurora's father) didn't invite her to the ceremony. However, after seeing Maleficent in live action, I learned more about her past and realized that she may not be as evil as everyone imagined.

In the fact , Maleficent curse the princess not because she wasn't invited to the ceremony but because she was betrayed by Stefan , the man she loved dearly by cutting off her wings in exchange for him becoming king. It caused her heart to break and her feelings to shift from love to hatred, but in the end, Maleficent learnt her lesson and was willing to open her heart and trust in love again because of the pure love Princess Aurora give her.

Maleficent is one of my favorite villains because she is a complex character. It shows that she is a villain not because she wants to be, but because she was betrayed and hurt by the person she loved, and she needs to be bad to defend herself. Even though she is a villain, she still has a kind heart that she is willing to share with Aurora.

Ursula : The Little Mermaid

The second villain is Ursula from The Little Mermaid. She is the witch Cecilia, who is half human and half octopus. Ursula tricked Ariel (King Triton's daughter ) into making a deal in exchange her voice for legs to carry out Ursula's secret plan to conquer the oceans of King Triton.

When I watched The Little Mermaid animation, I assumed Ursula was a one -dimensional evil with no interesting backstory. But when I got to see Live-Action, I discovered that Ursula is King Triton's sister, and the two had ruled the ocean together.

At that time, humans and mermaids were like neighbors, but Ursula saw that Humans like to capture aquatic animals for food, causing Ursula to try to start a war with humans. But this resulted in the mermaid queen death at the hands of humans. King Triton blamed Ursula and expelled her from the Mermaid Kingdom.

When I learnt about Ursula's background, I understood why she went to such great lengths to conquer the ocean. Because the ocean was once her domain and she just wanted it back, And Ursula's reason for being so aggressive may have been that she felt it was unfair that her older brother had expelled her from the Mermaid Kingdom, even though she was not the true cause of the Mermaid Queen's death.

Scar: The Lion King

Scar from The Lion King, is one of the villain characters that people often talk about. He is a true villian that has a cunning face and scar over left eye. He is also so cruel that he killed his own brother and expelled his grandson Simba from his flock.

But the fact that was hidden beneath his jealousy and greed that he wished to succeed his brother as king , Scar also has a miserable life. In Live-Action, Scar tells his story to the lions that he was once in love with Sarabi (Simba's mother) but his brother Mufasa took her away and scratched his face that make he had a scar til now. That caused Scar to be scorned by the herd's lions and his father ever since.

In my opinion, Scar is a pitiful guy who is always compared to his older brother Mufasa. Because Scar's body was too weak, he didn't even have a chance to become leader of the pack, he could only watch as his older brother took up the position of king. In the end, the feeling of being disappointed in losing to his brother in every aspect overwhelmed him and turned him into a villain.

Cruella de Vil: 101 Dalmatians

Cruella de Vil is a villain who is remembered by many people, with her two-tone black and white hair, sharp cheekbones, and full fashion sense.

I only remember her from 101 Dalmatians as someone who is obsessed with fur and polka dots. Her fur must be created from the skin of Dalmatian pups and must be thicker, softer, and more beautiful than anyone else's. This leads to a chaotic story in which she uses her subordinate to kidnap a Dalmatian dog in the animation.

When I viewed the Cruella spin-off, I learned that Cuellar was able to be thus vicious and cruel to Dalmatian dogs because of her stepmother was murdered by the strong fashion queen, Baroness ordered a Dalmatian to push her off a cliff.

Cruella de Vil is my favorite villain because she is so striking, confident, and insane, as well as a rich woman, which is very different from the typical princess character who is kind and neat. This makes her one of the most iconic Disney characters.

Villains like Maleficent, Ursula, Scar and Cruella de Vil are the other side of the coin that people may not care about, but these evils allow us to see the world from a more diverse perspective, even though many people hate it.

Whatever these characters are, it cannot be denied that they are important characters who make the princess and prince fall in love with each other as well as teach us something, especially learning that Villains have hearts as well.
